Video: Disko Dave Making A Beat I Wish I Could Make
A question for all of you production heads out there. How long does it take to get this nice on the MP? Man, what I'd give to sit in my crib with some headphones on, and create music as effortlessly as this.
gotta love this beat!! well it may look like it took him 5min to create the beat but i bet a lot more time went into "preproduction". crate diggin, findin the sample, choppin the sample, chekin which pieces of it work best, getting the right kit for the sample. other than that it's not that hard to create beats that way. another nice thing about the mpc is the quantize grid, it just gives you that great hiphop groove. but to answer your question it shouldnt take much more than a month to get that nice, the technique aint hard, its all about finding the right samples.
my folks live down there. and i dip behind the curtain about every two months or so. i'll let you know when i'm planning a trip. i'm laptop-based, so it's easy to take the "studio" for a trip.

five minutes and three seconds, that's what the video says... plus some practice, and chopping, and putting together kits and what not. LOL
how long did it take to do more kush?
I didn't think it wouldn't take more than 5 minutes to get that nice. lol
mpc's are nice, but i'd take a laptop over an MPC. MPCs might be slightly easier to use, but a laptop is x1000 more powerful.

sorry for the sarcasm... you just need to quit talking and get into the beats man. ;)
pipo... i just remembered that we are in the same town, right? if you ever wanna jam out on the production side of things... holla.
Jason,
No worries, I thought your comment was funny.
EJ,
I may take you up on the offer sometime. The only problem is that I now live behind the curtain.
