My Faves Volume 1 - Mixed by DJ Jazzy Jeff

This is some fire right here! This is more of an album than a mix. My Faves consists of Jazzy Jeff blending classic vocals from Biggie, Nas, Jay-Z, and the Wu-Tang Clan (to name a few) over original Jazzy Jeff produced beats.

Double mix update today. This one goes out to my man Derek at Manifest.

Fist Full of Dollars - Mixed by Dirty Harry

If you title your mixtape after one of the baddest movies of all time you better come correct. Well, I wouldn't be posting this mix 13 years after it was originally released if it wasn't classic material. So let's start off the week like it's 1996 all over again. Have a great week everybody.

Jazzy Grooves Vol. 6 - Mixed by J. Rocc

The beginning of this mix sounds very similar to the Syndromes mix (I think this was recorded before Syndromes). But after a few minutes you get another classic mix from the master of the mix, J. Rocc.

Video: Z-trip on Record Digging and Self Promotion

Z-trip talks about record digging, developing your own style as a deejay, and how to promote yourself.

The Name is ... Premier Vol. 3 - Mixed by Digumsmak

Dope mix of more recent Premier joints that were generally slept on because they didn't have Nas or Jay-Z rhyming over them. No Nas or Jay, but definitely a well put together mix with an abundance of quality cuts.

Wake-Up Show Archives Vol. 2 - Mixed by DJ Revolution

You're really missing out if you don't get the World Famous Wake Up Show where you live. In my opinion, there is nobody who puts together cleaner mixes (that incorporate cutting, scratching, blends, and mixing) than DJ Revolution. This mix was originally recorded in 2004. I'll post volumes 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6 when I get the mojo to rip them. Until then, enjoy volume 2.

Thunder Storm Vol. 4 - Mixed by DJ Premier

This might be the cleanest mix I've heard from DJ Premier. Thanks to my main man Brzone for posting this. Better yet, thank you to the world wide web for allowing this type of mix to be heard. Otherwise, this mix would have been on some Japan only type ish.

Sound System Tecnology - DJ Chill Winston

I have no idea who the hell DJ Chill Winston is. That being said, I do know two things about this guy. Homeboy put together a funky ass mix right here, and he doesn't know how to spell technology.

Video: Scion Big Daddy Kane Documentary

What better way to get through hump day, then a little documentary on my main man Kane. There's a special place in hip hop heaven for Scion. Whether it's all the free events with the best deejays in the world, the classic mixtapes, or docs like this, Scion has brought us all some quality hip hop the last few years.

Video: Public Enemy with The Roots

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon is carving itself a spot in the Hip Hop history books alongside the Arsenio Hall and Dave Chappelle shows. Having The Roots as a house band is pretty damn cool. In fact, I have found myself on a few occasions staying up just to hear the 20 second rifts played by The Roots before and after commercial breaks. The below video has Public Enemy performing "Bring the Noise" with The Roots backing them up on the Jimmy Fallon Show.

Recon-struction 2 - Mixed by Vinroc

Several of you sent me emails requesting a re-up of this mix. Well, since customer satisfaction is this blog's #1 goal, here ya go.

Video: Before Music Dies Documentary

Got 77 minutes? If so, I highly recommend watching this excellent documentary that examines music marketing, the effects of radio consolidation, and the impact of the commerce on art. The doc features Questlove, Eryka Badu, Bradford Marsalis, Eric Clapton, and many more.

Video: Scratch Academy - Mixtape 101

Interesting Q&A with Green Lantern and G Brown, who discuss all sorts of topics surrounding the mixtape game.

Off the Hook Part 2 A Few Dollars More - Mixed by DJ Dirty Harry

I need to hype this mix like I need to tell you that the sun rises in the east. This mix put the "class" in classic. It has everything; blends, seamless transitions, double rocking, hiss, production value, everything. Enjoy.

Brazil Vol. 1 - Mixed by Paul Nice

Nothing tickles Pipo's heart quite like some Brazilian music played behind Brazilian soccer highlights. To complete the Brazilian experience, I also suggest watching City of God at least 10 times. For all you Argentina fans, make sure to watch the below video to remind yourselves that you always have been, and always will be, El Selecao's bitch.

Video: The Making of Ready to Die - P. Diddy

I know many of you had a violently negative reaction to my last Diddy post. With all that in mind, I thought all of you would enjoy this Diddy interview where he talks about the making of "Ready to Die." Here, Diddy talks about topics ranging from the production philosophy behind Biggie's debut LP, finding Easy Mo Bee, his sampling philosophy, and selecting "Juicy" as the debut single.

I'm a sucker for live mixes caught on video, so I thought we'd continue Biggie tribute week with this. Enjoy

March 9 - Mixed by J. Period

"Greatest rapper alive died on March 9th." I'm not the biggest fan of blended remixes, but I have to admit that this particular mix does some justice to the classics verses Biggie left behind. Like most J. Period mixes, this mix does a tasteful job of mixing the original tracks with various exclusives and remixes.
