The roots of "Lovers Rock" lies in the late 60's when Jamaican singers like Alton Ellis, The Heptones and Ken Boothe got success combining the sound of Chicago and Philadelphia soul with rocksteady.
In the mid-70's, in south London, "Lovers Rock" became a real music genre and a way of life that influenced an entire generation.
