Video: Flying Lotus In-Store Performance

Here's a cool video I found of everybody's new favorite producer, Flying Lotus. Flying Lotus is that dude, and I'll admit that I'm a little late on the bandwagon, but can somebody explain to me what the fuss is all about? I'm not trying to argue that dude isn't nice. I'm just trying to figure out what he does that is so unique. From what I can gather, he makes beats using Trigger Finger and some secret software (which is probably Ableton). Is there something else that I'm missing? My impression is that he's doing something new that nobody else is doing. If that is so, can somebody explain to me what it is because I haven't picked-up on it yet.

hey Khy Boogie you can talk for yourself, you generalised London City with a Flying Lotus Record Shop display. No one jumped on that to replace Dilla, a few people in the record shop walking by + this was time ago.

The Dilla parties in London are bananas and London hasn't particularly embraced him.

FlyLo is aight. Not bad. But at the end of the day, something with non-traditional syncopation will just never be that popular.

Personally, I think Ras G is a little more palatable. But overall, I think the off beat thing is getting taken a little far.

What's wrong with traditional funky ass syncopation?
