EPMD Special Edition Mixtape - Mixed by DJ Scratch
I just finished watching the volume of Beef that goes into the whole breakup of EPMD and thought this mix would be appropriate for a re-post Friday. Listening to EPMD has never been the same after hearing that story of Eric Sermon robbing Parish Smith in his own home at gun point.EPMD Special Edition Mixtape - Mixed by DJ Scratch (download)
Future Vintage - A Melotropic Mixtape
There are certain things in life that just always guarantee satisfaction; dark seedy bars with Newcastle on tap, an episode of Sopranos, Tarantino films, Lakers losses, and mixes that start with Keith Sweat jams. Now, before you go judging a book by its cover, this isn't a R&B type mix. The mix just starts off with Keith Sweat. After that, the mix goes into left field with lovely foul ball type music.Future Vintage - A Melotropic Mixtape (download)

O.G. Style - Mixed by DJ Rectangle
**Please excuse my dust all. I accidentally changed my template while screwing around. It will take me a few days to clean up all the kinks. ** I do believe this is the first Rectangle mix to make it to the blog. Shame on deejay who don't respect Rectangle's contribution to the mixtape game.

Kon & Amir: 50 Greatest Samples...
Great read for a Sunday morning. I'm sure most of you will critique the list to no end. But, I'll tell you this... I've gone the last 6 weeks without my turntables because I had to pack everything up to show and sell my condo. Being without my tables for the last 6 weeks has been like living without a piece of my soul. Little inspiration, little creativity, everything has just felt very gray. The half hour I spent reading this article was the first time I have felt "normal" in a long time. Hope you all enjoy. Read article

The Masters - Mixed by The Conmen (Jake One and Mr. Supreme)
I guess I originally posted this back during the fall of 08. Read the original post below to see the wonderfully optimistic outlook I had on the future. Was it me, or did this week go by slower than a hot summer night with no a/c. Maybe it was the nonstop news of the world's financial collapse, or maybe it was the realization that Thomas Hobbes was right after all, "life is nasty brutish and short." Whatever it was, there has never been a greater need to just lose yourself in the things you love most. If you are a frequenter of this blog, I'm guessing that one of those things that you love is music. So sit back, relax, and listen to Jake One and Mr. Supreme mix all your favorite soul and funk breaks. While you are listening to the mix, try to forget the fact that our futures are as uncertain as the release date for Detox. Sorry for the negativity overkill, but it's been that kind of week.

Nice sample-based mix. Not too obscure, but obscure enough so that you don't get bored. I'd tell you who the dj is behind this mix, but I can't read German. If anybody can read German, feel free to go here and tell the rest of us who we should credit for this mix.The Originals Tape (download)

Diggin on Blue - Mixed by Biz Markie
Original post below.Even though he is well known for rocking the parties of your favorite hip hop moguls, the diabolical one is better known for having records, than he is known for mixing them. With all that said, Biz does his thing on this mix. Obviously, the song selection is air tight, but the real show is how Biz blends together an assortment of Blue Note classics. I'll admit that I slept on this mix because I did not expect much out of Biz Markie. Much to my pleasant surprise, Biz' mixing skills are at center stage with him rocking doubles so all the naysayers (like myself) know that he's nice on the 1's and 2's, but not too much double rocking so that you are not overly annoyed with the same break over and over again.

Jazzy kush. Write-up below. If one person holds the flag for Jazzy Sport, it's got to be Mitsu. A world renowned DJ, producer and 1/3 of the hip-hop group Gagle. He's been spotlighted for years with production that's channeled the greats from the mid '90s. If there's one thing I respect most about Jazzy Sport, is not only do they just stick to representing quality soul and electronic music, they're dedicated to keeping underground hip-hop alive.
