Crate Diggers: Gaslamp Killer

I think this is my favorite Crate Diggers of the series. This episode provides some great shots of GLK's home studio and house (which are both quite impressive) along with some insightful stories of musical inspiration.

yeah that was entertaining... but it bugs me that I can't hop on a plane and dig in Italy. all these ultra dj's/producers with crazy library records.
I looked at the ebay prices of some of the stuff GLK had, I just don't make that kind of money.

GLK. dope DJ/producer and from what I've seen/heard, seems like a really cool dude to talk to... Inspiring video for a friday into the weekend... used to use the -20dB attenuation switch (didn't shut of sound all the way)as a transformer switch on my dad's stereo and scratch over a tape deck for a year before I finally found some 1200's...

dope how he shouts out DJ R.A.W. (LA 90's junglist/turntablist DJ). Killin' it like no one else in the 90's... I got some tapes around somewhere...

sorry to hear about his scooter accident. Wish him the best in his recovery. ride a scoot myself so I can really picture how it happened...

Seems like a cool dude but always have been curious why he shows up on this blog as much as he does. And I'm all about diversity......but this guy is way over the top even for my taste & have personally thought all his sets ive seen/heard are trash for who are hip hop heads 1st.

I don't think 8 posts is all that much. If I were some of you, I wouldn't lose a minute of sleep not being able to afford some of the records on the video. Hip Hop culture and music was birthed out of some creative dudes with limited means. If Italian library records are too expensive, f*ck em! Make dope music and mixes out of some Pakistani breaks or whatever the f*ck.

I don't get the "rich kid" comment, lol.. You can't really fault someone for being born into money. Plus, money doesn't make someone dope.. The proof? Hip-Hop was born in the slums, not the suburbs

Am I wrong, but didnt he say he was paying the mortgage on his parents house? So..... not born into money.
MAde his money through his work now? I dunno, but if he has, good luck to him. Into it or not.
