Pete Rock Tribute Set - Rob Swift and Dilly
Highly Recommended Pete Rock tribute from Rob Swift and Dilly.
Mista Sinista & Rob Swift (X-Ecutioners) with Impassioned Speech and Live Set
The action doesn't begin until the 5:50 mark. However, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you listen to Rob Swift speak before he and Mista Sinista start doing their thing. This thing of ours is dying. I see it every day as I continue to try to bring all of you fresh mixes and videos. There simply is less material to weed through. As for me, I'm not going anywhere. Two turntables, a mixer, and records are the only "instruments" I know. I know no other way of expressing myself. I consider myself pretty damn good at my craft; and I have no intentions of starting from scratch to learn something else. As long as there are quality mixes to post; I'll continue posting them. As long as I find inspiration; I'll continue to make mixtapes. I suggest you all do the same. There really isn't a generation behind us to pass the torch to. Mix until the lights go out.
X-Men at WNYU
A few thoughts: Shame on a blogger for not recognizing the day we lost a true deejay pioneer. This is the highpoint of the whole turntablist movement in my opinion. I lost interest once it became more technical (becoming more technique than soul) than this.
Pass the Crate Mixtape - X-Ecutioners & Da BeatMinerz
Da Beatminerz and the X-Ecutioners–will be joining forces this Sunday February 12th for a live event at NYC’s Highline Ballroom. In order to commemorate this historic meeting of the mines, they have put together this unique mixtape cut together out of six short sets from DJ Precision, Total Eclipse, DJ Esquire, Boogie Blind, Evil Dee and Rob Swift. Mixes after the jump.
Roc Raid Tribute Film Featuring Beat Junkies and X-Men

Video: Roc Raida Spinning Live on WNYU
Raida tribute week continues with this classic video. For some reason, Raida's death is really sticking with me. I don't know if it is because he was a deejay, or because he left behind a wife and two kids. But, it is always a tough pill to swallow when people die before they were able to live a full life. Maybe Roc Raida's death resonates with me because the poor guy was probably just trying to stay in-shape and start a new hobby with the whole MMA thing, and boom, one freak accident later he's dead.
Live at the P.J.'s - Mixed by DJ Boogie Blind

Who Sampled This? - Mixed by Rob Swift

Break U Off!!! - Mixed by Mista Sinista
Sinista was not playin when he made this mix. THIS IS HOW YOU ROCK THE BREAKS! Man, this mix is real serious. The mix is pure perfection. Classic breaks, cuts upon cuts, clean transitions, and vinyl crackles throughout the mix. Man, I'm getting all tearyeyed just thinking about it. Video: X-Ecutioners Performing Live at Scratch Tour
I've seen a lot of deejays perform over the years, but this may have been the most incredible thing I've ever seen.
