This 🍩ne is for Dilla by DSTRUKT

Dstrukt might be the best at tastefully incorporating today's DJ technology with a foundation of skills independent of the technology.

Donuts Are Forever Live DJ Set w/ DSTRUKT

I'm re-posting this set because it's that good. Dstrukt is as technically sound of a DJ as you're going to find.  However, his sets are very musical unlike many other DJs who are very technical.

Yes, I know it's not February. I also know that Dilla tribute sets are a dime a dozen. But, Dstrukt is second to none with these tribute sets. I just found this video the other day and it's too damn good not to share. Highly Recommended.

Wake-Up Show Biggie Tribute - Mixed by DJ Dstrukt

As far as I'm concerned, all of Dstrukt's Wake-Up Show mixes are the stuff of legend. Enjoy

Sensitive Thugs Need Hugs - Mixed by DJ Dstrukt

Whatever happened to all those sensitive thugs from the late 90's and early 2000's.  Instead of sensitive thugs, now we have "emotional" thugs with the obligatory Rhianna guest feature as their lead single.  I blame 2pac for making this whole trend popular.  It doesn't really matter who we should blame for this terrible contribution to rap music, what's important is that Dstrukt used it as a great idea to craft an excellent mix.

Wake Up Show 90's Tribute Mix - Mixed by DJ Dstrukt

Excellent mix! Dstrukt's explanation of the mix and tracklist below.

20 minutes of default hip hop joints. Don’t hate, you’ll understand when I tell you the story behind this mix. Tech hit me up and asked me to do a 90’s mix for the show, I obviously said yes, next thing you know, my computer breaks within the next two days. Basically I was shit out of luck, but then I remembered I had a mix that never really got exposed from 2005. Yes, I said 2005! Way before I had Serato. So I took the first three minutes from that mix to be an intro to this 90’s tribute. Everything after the three minute mark is from 2009. So in a nutshell, you get a little piece of 2005 Dstrukt and 2009 Dstrukt. Sorry if that story wasn’t interesting enough for you. Peace.
