Pretentious SoundCloud upload spiel: A delicious savoury blend of Hip-Hop, Funk, Disco, Jazz-Funk, House, Breaks, Electronica, Drum`n Bass, Pop, with a dash of Rock, presented in a manner palatable to cut-up audio aficionados accustomed to the vintage dishes of Double Dee & Steinski, 2 Many DJs, Grandmaster Flash, Coldcut, Shep Pettibone, DJ Food & DK, and Girl Talk. At least 140 choice ingredients, over 2500 slices, and 2 months reducing in the Ableton fry pan, this hearty meal is best served piping hot with a pint of ice cold bitter. Bon Appetit.

Reality: I lovingly crafted this 69 minute MasterMix over two months in Ableton Live for the sheer fun of it (although Freud knows it was to impress a woman…..which it did). I’ve got a pair of 1200s and a shitload of vinyl, so I’ve done heaps of live mix sets, and several Ableton mixes in the past, but this mash-up was the most complicated thing I’ve yet to put together. The tracks used in this have been taken from vinyl, CD, MP3 (in several necessary cases unfortunately – i.e. acappellas), a movie, and even a TDK. Heaps of fucking fun though – a chance to bring a stack of favourite dance tracks, strange oddities, other stuff that “worked”, and my collection of samples and drum breaks into one funky audio stew. Over 2500 manual edits. My wrist is fucked. Enjoy.
