Crate Diggers: Mark Ronson

Mark Ronson really needs no introduction, but we'll try it anyways. The DJ/producer has been shaping pop music over the last 10 years, working with Paul McCartney, Amy Winehouse, Ghostface—the list goes on and on. In this latest episode of Fuse's digital series Crate Diggers, Ronson takes us on a whirlwind tour of his life as a music obsessive, vinyl lover and in-the-know personality with famous followers.

"One time I was DJing in New York and Prince was in the club," Ronson recalls. "I think to myself, 'What can I do to make Prince come in the booth? I have to play a record so amazing, it's going to his mind.'"

Ronson succeeded. "Surely enough [I see] the heads of these two big bouncers over the whole rest of the crowd, moving through the crowd," he continues. "Prince is standing there, observing. I'm trying to keep my cool, and he came over and said, 'What is that record?'"

Ronson then broke out a bootleg Stevie Wonder album, which made Prince want to have a bit of fun with him. Watch the video above for the full story and many more anecdotes from Ronson's storied career as a DJ, producer and musician.

Mark Ronson 40 Minute Boiler Room Mix

There are a couple lulls in the mix, but in the wise words of Puffy; "A deejay has got to be willing to clear the dance floor." Yes, there a few spots that many of us would rather not be a part of the mix. However, there is also some real brilliance in this 38 minute mix. Enjoy and critique away.

When he is not producing for Amy Winehouse or deejaying at New York's bourgiest nightclubs, he is on Radio 1 throwing-down a two hour, action packed mix.
