Biz Markie Megamix (2011 Australian Tour Promo) - Mixed by DJ Sheep

DJ Sheep describes the mix below better than I every could. I only add that Sheep is one of the great mixtape artists. Highly Recommended. Enjoy.

DJ Sheep: Biz Markie Megamix: 2011 Australian Tour Promo Recorded Live: Friday 3rd June 2011 It's unfortunately timely that I'm re-sharing this mix. We truly lost a great one today, Biz Markie, the cornerstone of humour in hip-hop with his larger than life cartoon-ish personality and demeanour. The B-I-Z's discography, legacy and history in hip-hop ran deep and his crates and music knowledge ran even deeper. I feel extremely humbled & blessed in hindsight to have spent time with Biz Markie in Australia, having both shared the stage with him in Sydney as well as spending a couple of days hanging out in Brisbane together with his brother DJ Cool V. We did what Biz does best and hit Chinatown in Brisbane for Chinese food, went diggin' for records and vintage toys and nerded out for many hours sharing, disecting, politicin' and listening to raer breakbeats, grooves, raps, acapellas and stems. It's one of the very few times I was absolutely geeked out meeting one of my heroes. There's been too many times when I've learned that my childhood rap heroes are actually jerks, even more-so with the advent of social media. There are too many hilarious stories to tell and memories of that tour which will have to wait for another time. This short but sweet 14-minute promo "mega-mix" was done in one take on two decks and a mixer at the request of the promoter of the down under tour. I kept it simple and just blended 7 of my favourite Biz tracks. There's obviously some deeper diggin' to be done in Biz's extensive catalog and I'm sure there'll be some great tribute mixes forthcoming but I kept this one as is because it's from a time and a place that hopefully some others can appreciate. Nobody Beats the Biz. Never. Rest in Peace and my most genuine condolences to his family and loved ones. peace. DJ Sheep # TRACKLISTING: 1. Just A Friend 2. Return of the Biz Dance 3. GRANDGOOD.COM: Standout Rap 2017 - Mixed by DJ Sheep

Good way to start the new year; choice cuts from 2017 mixed by one of the best doing it.
GRANDGOOD.COM: (grnd.gd/2CmEilU) This collection of music focuses on the independent voice in hip-hop, where the tension of selling records to mass markets tends to be less pronounced. This doesn't exclusively mean unsigned and you'll note some music from career musicians. But even with long term artists the songs we selected felt less encumbered. Because of my heavy hand you'll also have to deal with an east coast bias but yo that ain't necessarily a bad thing all the time, is it?
Thanks to DMC champion DJ Sheep: www.djsheep.com/ you can listen to the professionally mixed version: Grandgood – Grandgoodcom-standout-rap-2017-mixed-by-dj-sheep featuring 40 or so of the 55 tracks listed below, recorded live in one take on 2 turntables and a mixer at the Bulletproof Crates lab in Brisbane, Australia on New Years Day 2018. You can also stream a warm @cv_ tape version: www.mixcloud.com/grndgdcsstte/gra…-2017-audiocast/ and thereafter you might recall what it was like dubbing tapes for your close friends in '88. We also have playlists on soundcloud and youtube you can hit shuffle on (yea we know, but Spotify doesn't have most of the music).
Goes without saying but special thanks to the artists, we appreciate what you do. The Hip-Hop community suffered great loss in 2017: grandgood.com/category/qepd/rip/ and not enough can be said about the lost talent. At the same time, enthusiasm from young heads and old heads alike keeps it going. Lest we forget, many founding artists, like Coke La Rock pictured above, continue to walk among us: www.flickr.com/photos/155302481@…with/24536074467/. So again, big up to all the artists but also the rest of the community of listeners, show promoters, podcasters, writers....
Special shout to Dj Sheep for lending his hand, literally. Peace to Ming for capturing stunning images of the legends throughout the year. And of course @CV_ for his dedication and influence. Participation is critical. Thank goodness for contemporary rap.

Australian Breaks & Beats: Worldwide FM Mix - Mixed by DJ Sheep

Another Highly Recommended mix brought to you by DJ Sheep.
## BULLETPROOF CRATES PRESENTS:
DJ SHEEP: AUSTRALIAN BREAKS & BEATS: VOLUME 1
Debuted on Worldwide FM: September 20th 2017
After almost 2 decades of deliberation and painfully listening to "textbook" "Aussie" mixes from DJ's who aren't DJs and rappers & diggeurs who were suddenly DJs, I decided it was time I delved into the world famous Bulletproof Crates and specifically into the Aussie section to let heads know what's really up in the Antipodean crates when it comes to diggin' from a beat head perspective.
Here's 53 minutes of heavy hittin' top tier jazz, funk, soul, disco, drum breaks, post punk, electronics and some face meltin' cover versions. All cut up live in one take, by an actual DJ; break mix style with turntablist skills, on 2 turntables at the Bulletproof Lab in Brisbane on August 30th 2017.
Shouts to Giles Peterson and Mike Who for premiering the mix on Worldwide FM and a courteous fuck you to all the bullshit "labels" and record stores reissuing stuff that Aussie diggaz been diggin' before it was a #hashtag — dig under the radar and stop instagram vinyl circle jerkin' each other off — in the timeless words of DJ Premier, "ya'll are violating straight up and down".
Respect to everyone diggin' off social media who stay gritty in them dollar bins. Props to Salvos, Vinnies, Lifeline, Red Cross, RSPCA and every op shop still pricing their #vinyls for a buck or under.
peace. DJ Sheep

Salamander Street Massacre - Mixed by DJ Sheep

While many of you were listening to ATCQ, De la, and Souls throughout your high school years, I wasn't nearly as enlightened. This mix pretty much captures my musical pallet circa 93-97.  The more bass, the better.  The more obscene and offensive the lyrics, the "realer" the music.  Enjoy.

AND NOW A WORD FROM OUR SPONSOR, J-ZONE…
It's been a decade since both my last installment of the Ign'ant mix tape series and my three-year column in HHC Magazine. After working hard to profile the most vile, rude, offensive rap music I could possibly procure, I decided to bury both endeavors and move on to other things. After all, I'd maxed out the IRS (Ign'ant Rating Scale) in every possible category: senseless violence, wanton misogyny, race-baiting, hare-trigger mayhem and total lack of respect for everything under the sun. At least that's what I thought - until I checked out DJ $heep's $alamander $treet Massacre. Well, now I can officially declare my career as ign'ant rap guru over. If nothing else, it's because a cut from my obscure, forgotten Gorilla Pimp$ showed up on a mix tape in 2014. And the said mix tape is dropping in possibly the softest, most (faux) politically correct climate the world has ever seen. That's proof there are sick fucks out there who deliver the word against all odds, and $heep, you are one of them. Salute. I bestow the crown unto you.

DJ Sheep's Top 10 Break Mixes

All of you are going to eat up this Egotrip article as much as I did.  Essential reading for any Pipomixes follower.  Read HERE

Spring Breaks #1 - Mixed by DJ Sheep

DJ Sheep has taken over the mix blog game in a very short period of time. The quality and frequency of mixes he has released in the last year is really unparalleled.  Enjoy his latest gem.  Highly Recommended.
DJ SHEEP'S SPRING BREAKZ # 1
Recorded Live: September 9th, 2014
Welcome to the first instalment of this season's mixes titled SPRING BREAKZ!
It's been over a month since I've been in the lab and it took me a little while to get warmed up this evening, so bear with this as it's my most ambitious effort yet. As the weather starts to heat up, I thought I should get that heat out the crates too! Here's a list of the genres and things that I managed to lock down in 73 minutes of the wheels of steel:
Disco, Funk, Soul, Soundtracks, Reggae, Library Records, Dirty Funky Soul 45s, $1 Bin Classics, Drum Breaks, a * TONNE * of used and unused samples, Private Press secret squirrels, Experimental/Electronic stuff, Blaxploitation radio spots, Chinese TV commercials, Australian Punk, Psych, Fuzz, Jazz, Latin, Video Game music, Stereo Test records, Pinky Violence raers, B-Boy Breaks, an Idris Muhamad (R.I.P.) "extraction" from my man BAPT in Paris, a couple of seldom played Nas joints, a Lakim Shabazz freestyle, some live remix action with Rakim, Fat Joe, 50 Cent, The Game, Alkaholiks and Percee P all gettin' the live "SHEEPMIX" treatment (check around the 34 minute mark). As always, I gave this mix the world treatment with special joints from India, Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, Taiwan, Africa, Israel, South America, Thailand, China, Italy, Russia, Hungary and from all over Europe and the world. David Axelrod sits nicely besides James Last on this mix… Finally, J-Zone laced me with his new "Lunch Breaks" record, so I cut up a handful of those breaks throughout the mix; see if you can tell his drums from the 70's joints, it's tough!
Thanks to everyone who supported the "Winter Bluntz" trilogy, This mix was definitely a test of stamina on the brain and on the decks, please enjoy and all I ask in return is to please keep spreading the good word throughout your networks and holla if you got anything good cookin'; I work and I travel. CD's for "Winter Bluntz" and "Spring Breakz" will be available soon via my numero uno famalia, "Soul Amazin' Records" in Taiwan at facebook.com/soulamazinrecords
Thanks to GRNDGD, egotrip, Unkut, Ryan Proctor, cratesofjr, pipomixes, all the other blogs, listeners, followers and my people worldwide for showin' love, I appreciate you all. peace. DJ Sheep aka Chineazy-E.

## BULLETPROOF CRATES RECORDINGS PRESENT

DJ SHEEP'S WINTER BLUNTZ: BLUNT TWO
Recorded: 31st July 2014

Hey everyone on the Internetz -- I've been so damn busy re-jigging the studio over the past month that I didn't have time to get on the turntables until yesterday… I hopped on them suckers, hit record and here are the fruits of that affair for your listening pleasure. All done in one take, no preparation, just a erratic journey into the mind of a beat obsessed, scratchaholic OCD record junkie with a super short attention span. A lot of ground is covered on this mix… a gang of samples, both used and unused, library records, soul, funk, disco, hip-hop, australian records, japanese stuff, drum breaks, b-boy breaks, bongo breaks, turntablist works, electronic stuff, some mega RAER acapella blends with funk loops on the fly… and a couple of fresh new beats from djHONDA and Matty Fresh…

I hope you all enjoy this series… I'm trying to take what I learned from that Soulman World Of Beats 2 mixtape back in the day that started me on this beat mission. Over 25 years of collecting records, it's time to drop some gems on the world and try carry on the "break mix" / "mixtape" tradition. I hope you enjoy. Contact details are on this Soundcloud page. If you wanna get a MP3, or drop me a donation to the cau$e, drop me a line, djsheep@gmail.com or visit djsheep.bigcartel.com. Peace. Stay High.

RESPECT to the break mix originators: Phil "Soulman" Stroman, Silverchild & MSA, Jake One, DJ Muro, Kon & Amir, DJ Shame, Paul Nice, DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist.
