Hip Hop Confession #24

It's been minute since a post has ignited as much commentary from the blog faithful as last week's Pumpkin Squeeze mix post.  Apparently, many of you have a real soft spot for this mix (understandably so might I add).  Well, here something that will further surprise many of you.  Last week wasn't just the first time I heard the legendary Q-bert mix, but...

I didn't even know the mix existed until last week.  In fact, it wasn't until I read all of your comments that I realized the mix is 20 freaking years old.  Stupid me actually thought it was a new mix made exclusively for Mixcrate.com.  I can only imagine how traumatic this must be for all of you.  Watching your favorite mix blogger admit such blasphemy is up there with seeing Mays stumble around center field in a Mets uniform, or like watching Jordan getting beat baseline in a Wizards jersey, or maybe even as bad as listening to Gang Starr's Owners album.  What can I say other than, even Jordan missed every once in a while.

Ha! No worries Pipo, you can't know em all!

It's as much a factor of my advancing age that I managed to get this when it was first released. Reassuring to hear its stood the test of time - a lot of tapes haven't!

you've hipped me to quite a few dope mixes... thanks for your work!
I've had this mix since 97
i think the label on the tape said Qbert - Old School Mix.... then one day I saw a cd at a local record store, thinking oh dope a new Qbert mix, it was Demolitian Pumpkin Squeeze (japan issue too) i listened to it and was like wait this is the same as that mixtape i got. then i remember gettin into wavetwisters... the dvd. Qbert is from another planet. I wish he would cut up the classics like this again.
but for real you need to check out Mr. Dibbs turntable scientifics if you haven't already
