Tres Campeao - Pipomixes

World Cup is now underway. Brasil's first game is Thursday. I don't enjoy the WC. For me, it's a month of suffering that only ends well if Brasil lifts the cup at the end. I've been fortunate enough to experience that twice in my lifetime (94 and 02). The other WCs have lead to heartbreak and depression for a few days. Brasil is a favorite to win every WC per usual. However, being a favorite and lifting the copa are two different things. This isn't a WC mix, but there are drops from the 70 WC because Brasil 70 is considered the greatest team ever. Mix is actually inspired by Quasimoto. With Adventures of Quas; Madlib basically made an album mixing his favorite things; records, Sun Ra, and Melvin Van Pebbles. I took the same basic elements and added my favorite thing; Brasil futbol. Enjoy

Undercover - Mixed by J. Rocc

A new J. Rocc mix is always a very good thing.

Here is a mix of various cover versions.

I pulled a bunch of records for a stream with DJ Nu-Mark for his "Run For Cover" release. Before I put all of them away, I made this mix.

Enjoy

J.

The Cover Mix - Mixed by Nightmares On Wax

“I made this mix after my interview and conversation with Ralph Moore for Mixmag, and it's inspired by lots of the music and references we were discussing. I wanted to do a mix for Mixmag you wouldn’t usually get going through soul, funk, reggae, disco, R&B and house. All the songs are tunes I’ve been digging this past year during the pandemic. I had a lot of fun digging records for this mix and recorded it live in my studio The Other Ship in Ibiza.”

Summer Blends - Mixed by Gonorstein

Dope mix of an assortment of left-field, but familiar (yet different) tracks. Highly Recommended.

Joints & Jams w/ Beat Pete - September 2021

Beat Pete was live with another entry to Joints & Jams. Blissed-out jazz and fusion in the bag with music from Herbie Hancock, Sonny Fortune, John Klemmer and more.

JOURNEY INTO LOVE - Refuge Worldwide Mix - Mixed by BeatPete

BeatPete doesn't really do anything that makes you go, "Wow!" However, his track selection and seamless blending style always create a soundscape that has a really funky vibe. Highly Recommended.

Standing Next to Zero - Mixed by Pipomixes

The word zero came into the English language via French zéro from the Italian zero, a contraction of the Venetian zevero form of Italian zefiro via ṣafira or ṣifr. In pre-Islamic time, the word ṣifr (Arabic صفر) had the meaning "empty". But, there is not emptiness within the dimensions. There is the solitude of understanding the infinite possibilities between zero and one.

Get In Loser Were Going Crying (Sampler) - Mixed by DJ Neil Armstrong

As Roc Marci essentially created an entire sub-genre of rap that created a lane for the Griselda crew and many others; DJ Neil Armstrong did something very similar in the early 2000s beginning with his Original mix series. Here is a 20-minute sampler of the latest nu-wave mix from the legendary mixape DJ.

House Shoes' on Kiosk Radio (7/10/21)

Anybody know who is responsible for that remake of "Close to You" (first song)? As a always, House Shoes will seamlessly mix all sorts of joints you probably aren't familiar with, but will soon be.

Disjunct Transmission Vol. 56 - Mixed by DiscoK

If you want to know how to get my attention through your mix description, read below. Loving this series! Highly Recommended.

The Disjunct Transmission series is a collection of half-hour megamixes recorded using all vinyl records, two Audio-Technica AT-LP 120 turntables, and a Numark DXM06 mixer. The only exception is that I occasionally layer interview snippets and sound effects culled from video sources.

None of these mixes focus on one genre of music or time period or any other limiting factor, though all are crafted with the haphazard energy of the hip-hop DJ.

Each volume number is arbitrary. They separate each mix from others in the series, but they aren't listed in any meaningful order. There is no correct sequence for listening to these mixes. They are meant to be enjoyed as a vibrant conglomerate of sounds unburdened by any discernible narrative arc. Just get on down.

Disjunct Transmission Vol. 87 - Mixed by Disco K

My man Disco K puts in some serious work on this mix. Highly Recommended.

A Narrow Escape - Mixed by DJ ADA

I respect every DJ who has a mix posted on this site. Then there is a special category of DJs who create mixes that are just "different," and inspire. DJ ADA belongs to that category of DJ.

CRBL: 050 (Feat. Esgar & DJ Soundwave)

I'll describe this mix as eclectically downtempo, but that doesn't quite do it justice. Perhaps a better description is Highly Recommended.

Joints & Jams w/ Beat Pete - January 2021

Fair to compare Beat Pete's work ethic with Knx?

Beat Pete was live with Joints & Jams - two hours of jazz-tinged hip hop and fusion from the likes of Pink Siifu, Roy Ayers, Don Harper, and more.

Dimension Interludes - Mixed by Pipomixes

in•ter•lude

1. an intervening period of time.

2. something performed during a theatre intermission.

There are no intervening periods of time in the dimensions, only space. There are no theaters. Thus, no performance during theatrical intermissions. There are only dimensional interludes. Not before. Not after. Interludes where Sun Ra raps over boom bap. Where St. Ides commercials blend with Knx. Where skits are the attraction over sonic beds. Where Biggie tells Freaky Tales over Dilla's Freaky Tales. Interludes that seamlessly bridge the gap between the absurd and musical divinity.
