Absolutely stellar radio! J. Rocc begins by playing all sorts of buttas you will all begin scouring the net for. The show then goes onto play live sets (recorded at the Outlook Festival in Croatia) from both Pete Rock and Madlib. Side Note: I haven't heard a Pete Rock mix that good since the Future Flavas days.

Time is Illmatic Mix - Mixed by Pete Rock

Not the most impressive mix you'll hear. However, some people just can't get enough Illmatic in their lives, so this post is for all of you. A far more impressive Illmatic mix can be found HERE. I do recommend you all see the film Time is Illmatic. The film is very well done. Be warned though, the film is far more biographical about Nas than it is a "making of" Illmatic. If you're more interested in the background of how Illmatic was made, I recommend watching this and this.

Delicious Vinyl 25th Anniversary Mix - Mixed by Pete Rock

The Stussy x Delicious Vinyl Collection celebrates the 25th Anniversary of the LA-based record label. The minor label started in the late 80s and became a major figure in the evolution of hip-hop through the early 90s with acts such as The Pharcyde, Masta Ace, Tone Loc, The Whoridas, Young MC and Brand New Heavies. I still remember look for those distinct Delicious Vinyl record sleeves at the record store back in the day.

This is a set from the Chocolate Boy Wonder with excellent track selection. I was pleasantly surprised listening to this mix because I heard a bunch of quality joints/remixes etc... that I hadn't heard before. If anybody can provide tracklist it would be greatly appreciated.

Here is the full footage from the Pete Rock vs. DJ Premier battle that took place a little while back. I remember seeing the initial "battle" in L.A. back in 2008 and being very disappointed with the video footage that circulated afterwards. Almost 3 years later, finally some high quality footage.

Is it me, or has Pete Rock been recently more willing to discuss the whole "Juicy" story. In several recent interviews I've been reading/hearing, Pete Rock has been a lot more candid about not receiving production credit for "Juicy." In a relatedly unrelated note, word on the street is that a certain deejay that is very familiar with this blog is getting ready to release the mother of all Biggie tribute mixes in March.
