Summertime 10 - Mixed by DJ Jazzy Jeff & Mick

I wasn't in any hurry to listen to this mix because the first nine volumes didn't really do much for me.  I have to say the 10th version of this mix series is really dope.  There were about 2-3 track selections that had me on the verge of pressing "stop." Just as I was about to cut the mix short, an ingenious mix/transition kept me listening.

Serato Unscripted Interview: Jazzy Jeff & Kenny Dope (SXSW Special)

A long interview of two legends certainly worth your time.  However, a more knowledgeable interviewer would have made much better use of this lengthy interview.

I've passed on posting quite a few Jazzy Jeff videos over the last few years because they either consisted of sets that all of you have seen many times over; or sets that go in a direction that I personally don't like.  This is not one of those videos. Jeff really does his thing here with a 7" set.  In fact, there are some effects and transitions he does that I'm not really sure how he did it using vinyl.

Beyond Wonderland - Mixed by DJ Jazzy Jeff

This is clearly the party set that Jazzy Jeff plays while touring the clubs of Abu Dhabi. With that said, there's enough here that I think most of you (not you hardcore finicky types though) will be satisfied with giving it a listen.

Jazzy Jeff Live at Do-Over (6/23/14)

Props to the kid who pushed and schemed his way to the front of the crowd to floss his USA jersey and matching red shoes only to stand motionless for the entirety of Jazzy Jeff's set. Extra props to the shorty who was so convinced that she looked good in a denim jacket that she stayed wearing that thing on a hot summer day.

Summertime Mixtape Volume 5 - Mixed by DJ Jazzy Jeff & Mic Boogie

To be honest, I haven't really been a big fan of the first four volumes. They're not wack or anything. However, I thought the previous Summertime mixes were just kinda blahzay. This volume is clearly my favorite of the series. Improved track selection along with a little more effort into the mixing.

Jazzy Jeff Guitar Center Hollywood Set (3/6/14)

Nice to see these Guitar Center sets finally hitting the ol' internet. Still waiting on the NAMM 2014 stuff, but this should hold us over for the time being. Man, really sorry that I missed this event that was held right in my backyard. In any event, enjoy Jazzy Jeff mixing the type of set that serves as inspiration for many of us.

This isn't Vinyl Destination Jazzy Jeff mixing at some Dubai nightclub, playing top 40. It also isn't Live from Union Square Jazzy Jeff. It's the kind of Jazzy Jeff set you'd expect from the deejay that brought you Live from Union Square combined with the technologies of 2014 (technical difficulties and all). Props to MikiDz for consistently getting top deejays to bring their "A" sets to their show. Much appreciated.

I'm not really sure how I feel about this mix. I can only tell you all to not allow the first track to scare you away. Do I endorse this mix? I don't think so. Do I sh*t on this mix? I don't think so either. No matter what, a Jazzy Jeff mix will always get play on this blog. Let me know what you all think.
