Discogs Mix #61 - Mixed by FredFades

I'd like to think FredFades was first discovered right here on this blog.

Fredfades – High-End Lo-fi Jams
Tracklist available here: blog.discogs.com/en/discogs-mix-61-fredfades/
Fredfades is a 29-year old producer, DJ, and artist originating from Oslo, Norway. A heavy collector of Jazz and Modern Soul, Fred has been digging in the crates for over 15 years. His solo debut album, Warmth, dropped this past June 2017, via UK’s KingUnderground Records. Preceding his solo debut, Fred had already made a name for himself in indie Hip-Hop circles worldwide, releasing several 7″s, as well as a widely regarded collaborative album with fellow Norwegian, rapper Ivan Ave (2015’s Fruitful). Fred also runs the Oslo-based label Mutual Intentions, which houses a musical and visual artist collective of the same name. With eight releases under their belt thus far, including five in 2017 already, Mutual Intentions looks to release a slew of new material in the coming months, from House, to New Age, to reissues.
Fredfades had the following to say about his Discogs mix:
"I’ve always been into these super homemade, mega fragile synthesizer Modern Soul jams, so I thought I should make a mix of them. The original idea came to me when I did a Red Light Radio mix last summer, cause I’ve really been spinning the recording of that a lot. When I went to Amsterdam I didn’t get the chance to bring any LPs, so the mix was all 7”s. And it was live so it wasn’t really planned yet. And there were a few things I would have done different if I could. That’s why I wanted to do this mix when you guys over at Discogs asked me, and of course I’ve been buying some killer records since that RLR mix also."
On Discogs Mix 61, Fredfades shows and proves that he's a real deal crate digger with his collection of extremely rare outsider Soul tracks! Most of these show many more Wants than Haves on Discogs, and some of these obscurities and curiosities have a Sales History in the hundreds of dollars.

Gangstas Don't Rap They Boogie Vol. 3 - Mixed by Fredfades

For some reason I thought I had posted this mix weeks ago when it originally hit the web. The more I think about mix series with multiple volumes the more I think that later volumes tend to be better than earlier ones (unlike most movies with multiple volumes). This third volume of Fredfades' Gangstas Don't Rap series is no exception to the rule. All sorts of funky jams here.
Here we go again. The third installment in my boogie mix series.
This is the mix I'm most satisfied with out of all my mixes.
All records are original first press copies, except from the Pyramid Plus (obviously).. Some of them dollarbin-jams, some of them very rare. Most of the tracks are from 45's, but there's a few 12"s & LP cuts in there aswell. Most of the stuff is indie or private 1980-1986 boogie/electric modern soul/boogiefunk records. Two of them are edits I did, the rest is untouched.

If you're in Oslo, be sure to visit our killer discoboogieparty at the top of the Rockefeller buildin, saturday the 4th of May. The party will be off the hook. If you're not in Oslo, make sure you fly out for that shit.

Ganxtas Don't Rap, They B.O.O.G.I.E. Vol.2 - Mixed by Fredfades

Special Sunday night post to compensate for the lack of post on Friday.  I just finished listening to this mix so I thought I'd give it a post.  Now the Breaking Bad countdown continues.
Loads of people seemed to like my last boogie tape, so I decided to make a new one.. This time I tried also to make it a little more boogie than the last one. Did'nt include too much modern soul sounding stuff in this one. Cause I will put up a modern/disco tape in a little while also!! So this here is 80 minutes of boogie & boogiefunk. All original 12"s & 7"s.. No LP's was used for this mix. I did some edits also. All in all, there's 5 edits in this mix. Hope you'll enjoy it.

100% ORIGINAL FIRST PRESS VINYL
- NO BOOTLEGS, REISSUES, COMPS OR BULLSHIT..
- FX Done with the SP303.

Shoutout to Dirtyhans, Erik fra Bergen & The Rest of the Boogienetter Crew, s/o to Morten Krogedal, Julien Waxist, Aurelio Lost Grooves, The Disco Weasel's, A Downtown Affair, Oslo Soul Experience, Bjørn Kowalski Hansen, s/o to all good DJ's, funksters & recorddealers worldwide.

Ganxtas Don't Rap, They Boogie - Mixed byFredfades

Congratulations to Pipomixes alum Fredfades for the post on the illustrious egotripland.com. Read the description of the mix below.

Okay.. I started out wanting to make a modern/disco/boogie mix..
I figured out that my selection was way too big after I recorded the modern sounds at the beginning. The idea for the cover was actually done in september 2011. I just made it for fun without having a mix ready. After the Kee track, I figured out that I wanted the rest of the mix to sound a little more electric/boogie ish, and I wanted it to sound a little more like the cover. So I included way more boogie than I was supposed to from the beginning. Anyhow - I felt like blending in some modern vibes here and there, and this is what it sounds like. Hope you people will enjoy it. I do.

Happy b-day Dirtyhans ! ! !

Shoutouts to Erik fra Bergen, Discosnuten & Boogienetter Crew

Touchdown Soul #1 - Mixed by Fredfades

Fredfades is easily one of the more consistent and active break mix deejays out there. In the vein of Phil the Most Chill, Kon & Amir, and others known for their diggin' exploits, here's Fredfades with a soul-centric mix.

The long awaited soul mix. I've been waiting so long with this mix that records have been stacking up way too heavy, so I have decided to split it into two (maybe even three pieces/mixes).. Instead of throwing together all sorts of soul music, I've been trying to be a little consistent soundwise when putting together this mix. Most of the tape his headnod tempo soul killers. Mostly 45's, but a couple of LP tracks in there aswell. A couple of "dancers" aswell, but nothing heavy enough to be a part of the next soul tape I am doing (100% dancers). The next tape will also include a lot more newer soul music. Mostly modern stuff.

Not 100% satisfied with the sound on this one, due to some digital compressing I did now that my analog compressor is fucked up. Anyhew. It's a mix. You'll enjoy it..!!!

BIG UP to my favourite soul DJ's: Phill Most Chill The Soulman, Oslo Soul Experience, Bjørn Kowalski Hansen, Tim Robinson, Rev. Shines, Red Greg, A Downtown Affair NYC & Jared from Big City Records NYC.

Next Touchdown night will be friday the 9th of December at Turkish Delight in Oslo.
More info comin here soon: http://www.facebook.com/events/209014105841287/

No tracklist for this mix. You wonderin' about some tracks? Then ask me.

100% Original pressings. No bootlegs, no MP3's, no bullshit.

Merry Xmas y'all !!!

AUTUMN BREEZE (2011) - Mixed by Fred Fades

Just trust me.

Threw together a little autumn mix for myself and whoever who digs it.
Mainly psych, progjazz, jazzfunk, jazzrock-ish stuff that sounds like autumn to me.
No editing, drops or effects this time. Just playing records after eachother.
This mix was made WITHOUT a compressor I usally use for my mixes, so I am not as pleased with the compression this time as I used a digital compressor and squeezed a little to hard.

Anyhow, good tunes and I think most of you will enjoy it.
If you got any track-ID questions - holler at Fredfades Jazzblaster on Facebook.

This mix + cover is dedicated to a important friend of my family that just passed away from us — she was deeply obsessed by the look of the nature during autumn..

Hope y'all enjoy it.

Peace,

F.

Kool Calm Mellow Modern & Fusion Mix - Mixed by Fredfades

The title pretty much sums of the mix. The perfect mix if you're in the mood for something a little bit different and mellow.

** Update** Just finished listening to the mix all the way through.  Listen and do yourself a favor.
